Northland Process Piping fabricates the highest quality processing equipment for the food and dairy industries. Northland engineers recently worked with Boschert USA to source, tailor and install a Boschert CP EVO 1250 punching machine in its Mora, Minnesota operation. The task they designed the machine to handle is a difficult combination punch and form process for 4x10-foot sheets of 12 gauge (.105-inch) stainless steel. The Northland sheet design required a series of 3/8-inch holes punched within ¾-inch nipple high forms – an impossible combination for most punching machines. The shape and hole placement and depth required exacting precision to fit refrigerant pipes for one of its processing machines. Once installed, Boschert USA was on-site to train the fabricator’s team. The outcome was exceptional – the Northland team was pleased not only with the ease with which the operations were conducted but with the incredible precision punches and nipple forms – meeting their stringent specifications. Ultimately, the finished piece delivers both technical and physical beauty.

Automatic measuring has traditionally only been available on Stierli’s 220 and 420 CNC WP Hybrid Benders. Now, however, the software and measuring tool have been adapted and are available as an option on standard model Stierli 220 and 420 CNC horizontal benders – delivering perfect bends regardless of material characteristics. Once the machine is programmed for angle or the stroke length, the integrated encode system measures the angle of the bent part and re-bends if needed (automatic spring-back compensation). The required stroke and the spring-back compensation are each calculated by the control to achieve the best possible accuracy. The automatic measuring tool and software compensate for differences in material, the angle or stroke setting throughout the bending program.

Recently Greg Hoesly, Boschert USA President, paid a visit to a dedicated customer who has made a strong commitment to Boschert and Stierli copper bar processing equipment in its operations for many years. The company, IMMSA (International Metals of Mexico) with facilities in both Mexico City and San Luis Potosi, manufactures made-to-order copper and aluminum connectors primarily for the electrical and telecommunications industries. IMMSA serves many of the most important companies in North America – from Siemens to ABB. Boschert USA recently delivered another CU Profi punching machine to the Mexico City operation. Between the two manufacturing sites, IMMSA operates five CU Profi punching machines, four Stierli CNC horizontal benders, and a Boschert Profi Series press brake. While Hoesly likened the view of the Mexican operation to his own showroom in Butler, Wisconsin, IMMSA owner Alfonso Anciola put it plainly, “I like to work with both machines and people who are reliable and work well, and who I trust and respect.”

The bending specialists at Boschert USA recently came to the aid of a customer creating a unique mobile coffee truck. After seeing PBT’s profile bending capabilities in action on YouTube, Jeremy Oyler, from BeBoldCoffee in Millbrook, Alabama reached out to Boschert USA for some help to form a pair of unique trim pieces for his retrofit of a 1985 VW Doka T2Crew Cab truck. We took on the challenge with the demo PBT Arkus 12 in our showroom. With guidance and specs from Oyler, our profile bending specialist formed the trim that gives the finished truck its unique profile. You can find the truck, trim, and BeBold coffee on the 30A in Grayton Beach, Florida. All that’s left: Order up the cappuccinos.

The PBT team recently got a pair of inquiries about profile bending machinery for playground manufacturers. What’s interesting though is that one was from Slovenia and the other was from Thailand. While we started to bicker over who would get to do the installation, cooler heads prevailed, and we passed on the leads to the more appropriate regions. Dare to dream, nonetheless.

Through Boschert USA, its exclusive North American representative, Boschert GmbH of Lörrach, Germany, is excited to introduce a new programmable, automatic copper bar loading and clamping system for its CU Profi series of punching machines. The combination of this new clamping and loading system allows operators to streamline their automated production processes while limiting new staffing requirements. With the new loading and clamping automation system, operators can load a variety of widths and lengths of copper bar stock based on their job list, and with proper programming, can let the CU Profi punching series machines do the rest. The system will automatically pick up the new copper bar stock, and evaluate, load and clamp the bar to perform the prescribed punches for each width and length. The finished bars are automatically pushed out to the finished product tray. The new Boschert copper bar loading system with automating clamping and loading is just one more example of the company working to make its customers’ jobs more efficient and productive.
